Spring Advising Now in Progress: Feb. 5–Mar. 2.

 

Attention IME, ME, and Gen Eng undergrads: If you haven’t yet signed up for your spring advising appointment, please do so ASAP in Dearborn 102.  Spring Advising starts today, February 5th, and runs through Friday, March 2nd. If you have signed up, don’t forget to show up for your appointment!  You must be advised in order to get your PIN number, which lets you register for spring term. 

 

 

Also Now In Progress: IME–ME Candy Sale for OSU Food Drive

 

The annual IME–ME candy sale starts today in Covell 118 and Dearborn 102.  Bags of candy are $1, and all proceeds go towards the OSU Food Drive. Stop by and satisfy your sweet tooth, and buy a bag for a friend while you’re at it!

 

 

And Another OSU Food Drive Event Also Needs Your Donations:

 

The Academic Success Center is collecting donations for a "Stuff for Kids" silent auction that will take place at the center, 102 Waldo Hall,  Feb. 21-23. They are looking for toys, clothes, and books that are in new or gently used condition. All proceeds from the auction will go to Linn-Benton Food Share for the OSU Food Drive. Receipts for tax records are available on request. Contact: Elizabeth Thomas at 737-2272 for more information.

Wed, Feb 7: Novellus Systems Information Session. 3 pm, Career Services Office (basement of Kerr Admin). Note: Jobs for which Novellus is currently interviewing include Manufacturing Operations Engineer (EE, ME, IE, and Manuf. E Majors),  Field Service Engineer (EE and ME majors), and Hardware Engineer (EE, ME, and MAT SCI majors). See Job Postings section below for position descriptions. NOTE: Application deadline for all three jobs (through Career Services) is 1/29/07.

Wed, Feb 7: Recruiting meeting for Senior ME, IME, DHE and EXSS students interested in participating in a design experiment. 7 pm, Rogers 226. During a 2-week experiment conducted through OSU’s Mechanical Engineering Department, participants will spend 20 hours working as members of a design team, earning up to $300 for their study participation. Presenter: Robert Stone, Associate Professor, Dept. of Interdisciplinary Engineering, and Director, Student Design and Experiential Learning Center (SDELC), University of Missouri at Rolla (UMR) School of Engineering. Distinguished Visiting Professor, US Air Force Academy Department of Engineering Mechanics. 1:30–3 pm in Rogers 226 (1:30–2 pm social time) and Rogers 230 (2–3 pm presentation).

Practice interviewing with experienced recruiters and receive valuable feedback so you can make outstanding connections in your future interviews. Thurs, Feb 15: Center For Teaching and Learning Workshop: Learning Styles & Learning Perspectives 9–11 am, Milam 215.

 

Thurs, Feb 15: 2nd  Annual BRANCHING OUT dinner. 6 pm, CH2M HILL Alumni Center. The mission of BRANCHING OUT is to generate an opportunity for students from underrepresented populations (racial/ethnic minorities, disabled students, gay and lesbian students) to network with, and learn from, employers who are committed to fostering the success of individuals from underrepresented groups in the workplace. Learn about diversity in the workplaces of today and  tomorrow during a panel discussion with employers. Food and beverages will be provide. Business attire is required. Space is limited; please register by Friday, February 9th, to Miranda Smith, Career Services, miranda.smith@oregonstate.edu.
